About Ozempic (semaglutide)
Licensed for diabetes in UK
Same molecule as Wegovy
Ozempic is widely known but isn’t licensed for weight loss in the UK; it’s licensed for diabetes treatment. Some doctors prescribe it off-licence for weight management and it can be effective.
Active ingredient: Semaglutide (the same as Wegovy).
Our practice: because Ozempic is primarily used in diabetes, we choose not to prescribe it, to avoid impacting supply for diabetic patients.
